I've been considering either buying a plate or building a CFC for the longest time now. Perhaps I should take the plunge myself.

I ordered mine through Hop Dawgs since I was getting a bunch of stuff with him anyways. I did not want to deal with shipping and duty at the border. If you go over about $500, ask if Chris will give you a discount, I got about 7% off my last order.

and yes, Chris Craig is correct there... the ~10 mins per carboy is for cooling and transferring at the same time.

Shipping using USPS is apparently about 35 bucks... I might order directly from duda diesel. Also Im looking at another model that I dont think hopdawgs carries.

I'm perfectly happy with my 25' CFC.  in combination with my pump, I can cool and fill a 5Gal fermentor in just under 6 minutes.

If you have the money for a plate chiller and aren't much into building stuff yourself, then get a plate chiller.  They are easy to mount to brew stands, etc.  I personally like building my own stuff, and my cfc works damn good.

Thanks Marc, Never heard of doing it with a pump. I bet that would actually work really well.

I continuously stir while chilling and can get it cooled pretty damn quick in my opinion but now my worry is definitely leaving it exposed in my backyard.

Im completely useless building my own stuff and I might just save some time and effort and spend more on the duda diesel plate chiller.
