Title: Aluminum Pots
Post by: Kyle on April 22, 2011, 04:03:47 PM
In general, aluminum pots are great, lightweight, and cheaper than stainless steel. The link to Alzheimer’s has been dismissed as bogus in current medical thought.

However, as I was using my new weldless ball-valve and hop strainer, I noticed that the pot was flexing when using the tap.

So, I have to say, that AL pots might not be good if you are going to be putting fittings in them.

Otherwise, they work very well though

whaa? flexing? how thin is your alu pot?

and +1 on the Alzheimers link being bullshit.

Actually, it turned out that by tightening the bulkhead, most of the flexing ceased, but there is still a bit. The pot is very thin, probably about 2/3 that of a dime.

Ok mine is about 5x that I think. I didn't think they made them that thin.
