OBK kettles
« on: March 18, 2013, 03:50:54 PM »
I just received my 15 gallon kettle from OBK today.  I got the 3 piece SS ball valve and a dial thermometer for the ports.  The first thing I noticed was the build quality.  For $109, I expected it to be a bit flimsy, but it's a solid kettle.  The edge is rolled at the top, so that provides some extra strength too.

One thing that a bought at the same thing that I thought should have at least been an option was a SS elbow and close nipple for the inside of the kettle to use as a pickup tube.

Anyway, can't wait for brew day :)

The picture of the pickup tube is misleading. The elbow is about 1/4" off the bottom of the kettle.

Looks good,  I think that Ian has the same one.  I struggled with finding a quality pot, most are really thin.

Yep I got the same one and its a great buy. It's nice having the temp gauge to see how close you are to the hot break.  If you buy one and aren't interested in the ball valve or temp gauge get 2 plugs.

Eh? I've never had a problem getting hot-break... that being said I wouldn't mind having a sight glass :)
