St. Bernardus Tripel & Tripel Karmeliet
« on: November 28, 2011, 06:23:08 PM »
I had a friend pour me a couple of beer on Friday that I thought warranted a mention. Both are Belgians and both were good. My review will not be detailed as they were poured after a few and before a few more, so my reckoning is less than perfect to say the last ;-)

This was my favorite -- probably because I remember it best! It poured with a nice head with medium to good lacing. Color was a cloudy burnt orange. I recall both citrus and spice in the nose with balanced sweetness and pepper in the mouth. Mouthfeel was smooth with nice round but light body. It finished light and refreshing and crisp. I only have a few Belgian Tripels to compare, but the closest it comes to is the Allagash Tripel that I brought to the meeting this past Saturday. (Excellent 4.5/5)

To be completely honest I'm a little foggy on this one. I do recall a powerful punch to this
beer.. not in a bad way, but lot's of flavor, with a good balance of citrus, flower and spice. Sorry, it would be busllshit for me to go into any detail at all :-(

If you find these... I recommend them both.
