Picked up in doaktown this morning and car broke down on way back around penniac bridge ... so turned out to be a little more expensive if you factor in the tow.  :drink:

For sale: 2001 Honda Civic - Needs new motor from trip to doaktown to pick up kegarator. Pretty nice kegarator so as far as I'm concerned the trip was worth it. Currently parked at sutherland's honda ... Turns out cars require oil and regular maintenance  :drink:

Looks like I'm buying a new kia sorento off the lot ... anyone have any reasons why not to buy one?

Very nice SUV ... Appears to me that Kia's come a longgggg way in the past 5 years. Should be able to fit a lot of beer kegs in the back of this thing.

LOL....sorry to hear about your mishap. But what happened to the car? completely f*&%ked or wha? get a second opinion? I'd look into other options/second opinion before droppin $$$ on brand new....not saying i don't trust dealerships...but some try to be over zellus(sp) and try to get you into a new vehicle by saying its "THIS BAD"....then one of the employees will snatch up your old car for a couple hundred, throw some oil in and have a commuter car for their son going to college.. :D  :D

Anyways...haven't heard much about the kia's...good luck with whatever you decide to go with..

Yea engine was completely F'd. Took it to Sutherlands Honda, who always did my servicing for me, and it needed a new motor, which was going to run me about 3k for the part and labour ... the car is hardly worth 3k, so no thanks.

I don't really have cash to buy anything outright, so looking like I may finance something over 5 years at 0%, which seems to make sense to me, rather than put a couple thousand bucks into another old shitbox that'll probably break on me within a year or so ... at least with something new i'm covered for anything major for 5 years or 100k km.

I used to think Kia was junk, but have been doing my research over the past days have realized that the consensus seems to be that they're putting out some quality, reasonably priced with great warranty'd vehicles. I have a hard time paying around 10K extra for either honda or toyota, who have a great rep, but I honestly think that the perceived "lower quality" companies like Kia and Hyundai have really closed the gap and are at par with honda and toyota.

yup, Kia and Hyandai have come a long way since the pony and the Festiva(yes, Kia built the ford festiva's). Ever see the Kia optima?? take a look.....looks comparable to an accord....hell the forte are comparable to a civic IMO. But you can't beat the 0% financing...cheaper to buy new then used nowadays....relatively speaking of course. The hyundai elantra's are getting something like 48mpg...i think that's better than civics...and the elantra's are pretty sleek looking.

happy car shopping

I see the 0% financing ads all the time, how does that work? Do they nail you with fees and interest later or something?
