Yea engine was completely F'd. Took it to Sutherlands Honda, who always did my servicing for me, and it needed a new motor, which was going to run me about 3k for the part and labour ... the car is hardly worth 3k, so no thanks.
I don't really have cash to buy anything outright, so looking like I may finance something over 5 years at 0%, which seems to make sense to me, rather than put a couple thousand bucks into another old shitbox that'll probably break on me within a year or so ... at least with something new i'm covered for anything major for 5 years or 100k km.
I used to think Kia was junk, but have been doing my research over the past days have realized that the consensus seems to be that they're putting out some quality, reasonably priced with great warranty'd vehicles. I have a hard time paying around 10K extra for either honda or toyota, who have a great rep, but I honestly think that the perceived "lower quality" companies like Kia and Hyundai have really closed the gap and are at par with honda and toyota.
