Title: Fakr's Special "Brownbread" Bitter

This was the special bitter I brought to the nov 10 meeting.

Batch size: 10G

Grain:

21 lbs Maris Otter
2 lbs Crystal 40L
1 lb Wheat Malt

Hops:

1.5oz Challenger @ 60mins
1.5oz Challenger @ 30mins
2.0oz Challenger @ 5mins

2.0oz Butron water salts added to boil (in future, will add to HLT)

Yeast:

3 x Fermentis us-04

OG = 1.058
FG = 1.016 (stopped fermentation at this FG by cold crashing @ 0C)
ABV = 5.5%

Mash 60mins @ 156F
Batch sparge
Boil 60 mins
Ferment @ 16C

Very interesting flavor with this one.  A very rich caramel, combined with freshly buttered homemade brown bread.  Low carbonation.  Very smooth and drinkable.

Will make this one again for sure.

Any idea on the AA% on the Challenger?

I believe around 7% but I'll have to check.

For those that weren't at the meeting, this was AWESOME.
I think it's the best Bitter I've ever had, seriously.
Planning on brewing 20 gallons of it soon.
