Title: Sunny Season Citrus Liquid Wrecking Ball
Post by: Jake on July 25, 2011, 09:10:45 PM
3lb 2-Row
2lb Marris Otter
2lb Pale Wheat Malt
.5lb Vienna
.5lb Crystal 60

.5oz Cascade - 60 min
.5oz Cascade (up from .25oz) - 15 min
.25oz Cascade - 1 min

1.5 oz orange zest (up from 1oz) and .3 oz of ground coriander @ 5 min left in boil

Mashed 12L @ 154f, Sparged 18L @ 167f. OG of 1.039

Notes: This is a variation of the first one I did. I took first batch to my gf's family reunion and it only lasted a couple hours and the keg was gonzo. Very delicious but found it lacked citrus so I upped the dose of orange zest and flavor hops a bit. Additionally, I subbed in a couple pounds of marris otter for 2-row, just to see how it'd turn out. I also added a tiny bit of coriander ... one recipe I read suggested using .5-1 oz of crushed coriander seed, I went to the store and they only had ground coriander which seemed pretty strong, so just added a tiny bit, and I'll work up from here on future batches ... didn't want to kill it with too much coriander because I hear it's pretty strong stuff, so starting low. Can't wait for this one  :shakes: .

Great beer, I'm going to brew this except instead of the orange and coriander, I'll add a litre of unfermented mead.
