Title: Molasses Cookie Dubbel
Post by: Two Wheeler on May 17, 2017, 11:46:03 PM
Hey folks,

Here are the details for the beer I brewed for the Spring 2017 competition focused on a local ingredient and creativity.

The local ingredient was Crosby's Molasses, instead of dark belgian candi sugar. I took the Molasses and baked it into cookies, following this recipe: http://www.food.com/recipe/fat-free-molasses-cookies-241794 . This recipe looked great due to the pureed raisins, coffee and spices. Seemed like a great replacement for the DBCS. I added these directly into the mash. Man this beer smelled great while mashing and boiling!

The cookies on their own were actually delicious for a low fat recipe!

Recipe:

5 gallon Batch.
Target OG: 1.066

4900 g Pilsner Malt
220 g Munich
500g Molasses Cookies
3oz Saaz (2%AA)

White Labs Trappist Ale #WLP500
