I planning to brew an experimental 5Gal recipe and split it into 5 x 1Gal jugs and pitch a different strain of Kveik into each. I have a commercial vial of Escarpment's Hornidal Kveik right now thats fairly fresh but the Voss Kveik and Strada Kveik were cultures that I've built up from bottles dregs. Strada is pretty active but Voss isn't. I'm a little sceptical but I'm going to bash ahead and try anyway. Any advice or criticism is welcome!
The Recipe
85% Pilsner
10% Wheat Malt
5% Vienna Malt
20 IBUs Saaz
The Strains
Hornidal Kveik (Escarpment Labs)
Voss Kveik (The Yeast Bay)
Stranda Kveik (Omega Yeast HotHead)
Farmhouse Sour Ale (I have an old expired vial laying around so I figured I might as well use it)

This is an awesome idea. Something I wish I had done more of. Your base looks good, keep it simple and let the yeast shine. Really interested to hear how this goes so keep us updated. :cheers:

My original plan was to not have the vienna but I wanted to see what the yeasts would do with a tiny bit of malt character. I think if I do a second round I'll do a 100% 2-row bill with a lot of late stage hop additions.
Also I think for the 5th jug I'm going to make a saison and throw in a bunch of the dreggs from some of the brett beers I've been saving.

Would be fun to compare them or even trade some bottles so that we can save the yeast. I would like to have some of that yeast bay and escarpment

it's in french but you can check out the facebook page called kveik et funk du quebec. It’s a small group from quebec trading or selling kveik or rare yeasts/blends. It cost 7$ if you have nothing in return
