Title: Gold Rush IPA
Post by: McKraken on June 07, 2013, 05:23:38 PM
I got some notes on my Chinook IPA (http://nbcba.org/forum/index.php?topic=2372.0), and made this.  I was planning on using Chinook in here as well, but I couldn't get a hold of any.

Gold Rush IPA

10 gal into the carboys

24lb - 2-Row
1lb8oz - Crystal 60
12oz - CaraPils

2 oz Nugget Leaf(%14.1) @ 60
5 oz Citra (%13.7) @ 20
3 oz Cascade (%9.1) @ 7
5 oz Citra (%13.7) @ 7
2 oz Cascade (%9.1) @ 0
3 oz Cascade Dry Hop for 5 days

2 Packets US-05

Mashed at 153 for 60 min, Sparged at 168 for 15 min.

75% efficiency

This was my first 10 gal batch too.

That looks delicious, but honestly, I'd ditch the cara-pils.  You have plenty of grain there for body, plenty of hops for head retention and mouthfeel.  It serves no real purpose.

That said...I'd love to try it!  :shakes:

I thought of that when I was typing that post. "With that much grain, what is 12 oz of CaraPils adding to it?"

It will be at Fhilo's place for the meeting tomorrow

You should search for a video in YouTube called Brewing on the Ones. Great ideas there.
