Dark Rytes IPA
« on: January 06, 2012, 12:13:54 AM »
Large variation on the Black Like Your Heart to include Rye, also swapped in Calypso 'cause I have a feeling it will go real well with the rye.

10lbs Vienna Malt
3lbs Munich Malt
2lbs Rye Malt
1lb CaraMunich III
1lb Carafa Special III
0.5lb Toasted Flaked Rye
0.5lb Cara-Foam

1oz Calypso 12% @ FWH
1oz Centennial 9% @ 60
2oz Cascade 6% @ 20
1oz Palisade 6% @ 0
1oz Calypso 12% @ 0

Dry-Hop 1oz Calypso 1 week.
Dry-Hop 1oz Palisade 1 week.

Mash @ 152 w/5 Gallons (Strike 167F, 150 at sparging), Sparge 168 w/4 Gallons (Strike 188). Numbers all hit.

Seven gallons into boil-tun. Six gallons into fermenter.

S-05 x 11.5g (one pack).

OG (measured: 1.070 @ 16C; 65% efficiency).

Edit: added some other figures from brew-day required by the entry sheet.

Fermentation temp: 18C
Color: black like your heart

Dunno why they need this but: Boil start ~5pm, Boil end ~6pm... also they ask for Final Gravity twice... O_o

The attenuation is almost spot-on for the yeast; if anything that's a point lower than predicted.
