F.G. on the one in the keg with a spunding valve was 1013. The part in the carboy will be dry-hopped soon.

Wow this beer is good! It has that resiny character from the hops with roasted barley in the background too.

I discovered a new level of laziness for brewing. When putting it in the keg for spunding, I swapped the keg posts. Since my gas QDs fit on both gas and liquid ports, I hooked the spunding valve up to the liquid post with gas tube. Once the fermentation finished, I stuck the keg upside down in the fridge with the draught tap connected to the short tube. It is just long enough that the yeast is not getting sucked in and I did not have to transfer to another keg to get sediment-free beer.

There is no worry of yeast cell death, beause I'm not going above 24 psi, and I highly doubt the keg will last very long.

Curious to see how this turns out with a relatively small amount of carafa special... I'd always leant towards the overkill end of the spectrum (2lb/6gal) - turned out nice.

edit: you better bring some to the diaper party thing tomorrow :P

Holy crap what a killer idea, suppose with the kegs that have the solid plastic handle all around so it sits upside down as well as right side up, this could be pre-planned....got me thinking about that now...next batch going to try a couple that way to see, I love it. Easy way to get samples during the ferment too....awesome.

Yeah, its great. The QDs stick out about 1/3 of an inch past the plastic on the keg, so I have set it on a couple of peices of wood to keep stress off the connectors.
